Professional Home Based Service In The Foothills Of The Sandia Mountains
Sourceport Computing was founded in July of 2002 by David Maklary as a home based business concept that provides affordably priced, high quality, custom work to its clients, in a fully equipped and quiet setting.
Located in the Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, New Mexico near the corner of Comanche and Eubank, word of mouth advertising has built over 90% of its regular clients, who benefit by enjoying a much lower cost for high quality service by there being no need to pay out the high cost of advertising like most other places.
David began as a programmer nearly twenty years ago back in the old DOS days, long before most people had ever heard of the word: Internet. His background went on to building BBS systems and eventually into backbone server work, which inevitably led him into server side scripting and website development.
As the Internet began to grow in popularity, so came the bad guys with all of their viruses, malware, worms, trojans, rootkits, spyware and etc., which (in the end) led him into the field of data security. He established a friendship with Steve Gibson and has been an avid supporter of his outstanding work for quite a few years.
As technology progressed, David worked as a computer technician in one of the largest and busiest shops in the state of New Mexico, who today is his mainstream supplier of hardware components and peripherals.
Having extensive experience in data recovery, he became a DriveSavers Partner to provide additional support to clients with a drive that has failed to the point where its data can not be recovered by any other means.
Unexpected Events That Ironically Strengthened The Company
Microsoft's Vista Disaster: It has made so little sense to so many people that Microsoft would put out their XP SP3 release in May of 2008 and then remove it from the stores in June of 2008, while assuring the world it would be supported until 2014, as their flawed Vista was pushed out and is now soon to be discontinued.
Even worse were the many unfortunate people who had unwittingly purchased Vista proprietary hardware (especially laptops) who wiped their drive to return to Windows XP and later discovered it couldn't be done.
Sourceport Computing responded to this issue by educating its clients in regards to the benefits of Linux and converting their machines to Ubuntu, which by-passed those mind-bending Vista proprietary driver issues and provided the client with a reliable machine on a slightly different, but solid and easy to understand platform.
Doing this added a valuable new service to the client and saved many a laptop from being thrown in the trash.
The Economic Downturn: Downsizing and cutbacks are two commonly heard words in today's global economy that Sourceport Computing (like many others) was forced into doing, prior to trying a new approach.
While several competitors were busy raising their prices and/or closing their doors, Sourceport Computing has maintained its prices, while raising its standard of quality and begun adding new and innovative services.
Re-thinking its approach towards doing business in today's marketplace has resulted in stimulated growth.
